Bring the current orthosis/prosthesis even if you or your child have outgrown it or it is damaged. The patient must be present for all appointments, including adjustments. For scoliosis treatment, please make sure you bring your latest x-rays or that they have been reviewed by your practitioner prior to your visit. Also, bring your current insurance information and/or prescription if new devices are needed.
This may vary depending on your particular situation. The most important factor is how fast the limb heals. Often the healing process may be slower than desired. Sometimes the surgeon will request a post-operative cast to be applied in the operating room. In some cases the post-operative cast is applied to prevent limb contractures and to protect the surgical site. The first prosthesis is applied several weeks following suture removal.
